The Hong Kong Institute of CPAs' standard setting department highlights a key aspect of the new impairment model of the new HKFRS 9 Financial Instrument, which applies to any entity with receivables (regardless of whether it is trade receivables from debtors or loan receivables from borrowers). HKFRS 9 is the equivalent of IFRS 9 (of the same title) issued by the International Accounting Standards Board. An overview of implementation challenges faced by banks and other corporate entities was reported in the May 2015 issue of A-Plus.
