  Receiving Ministry of Finance delegation  

The Institute received a delegation led by Shao Min, Deputy Director-General of Department of Accounting, Ministry of Finance (財政部會計司邵敏副司長), on 17 May. The delegation met with the Institute and representatives of Hong Kong CPA firms including Ministry of Finance appointed advisors, to discuss the revisions to China's Law on Certified Public Accountants (註冊會計師法) and Accounting Law (會計法). The delegates also heard the latest developments in the profession in Hong Kong, including the new QP and audit regulatory reform. Click to see photos.
     
Implementation phase of the new Qualification Programme

The Institute is pleased to announce that the new Qualification Programme has entered into the implementation stage. The new QP will roll out from June 2020 onwards and will see the introduction of new Student Information System for online registration and the publication of new study materials for exam preparation. Integrated Reporting <IR>

On 16 May the Institute hosted a meeting with Richard Howitt, CEO of the International Integrated Reporting Council (IIRC). He met with academics, companies, NGOs, CPA practices and regulators and provided an update on the status of adoption of <IR> around the world and a discussion on the relevance of <IR> in Hong Kong. Up to date information on the activities of the IIRC can be found on their website.

ACFE Hong Kong Chapter, in partnership with Centre of Criminology of the University of Hong Kong, will hold a fraud Investigation foundation course on four Saturday mornings in June.

United Nations sanctions notices

Gazettal of Terrorists and Terrorist Associates under United Nations (Anti-terrorism Measures) Ordinance (Cap. 575) includes updating of specification of terrorists and terrorist associates designated by the United Nations Security Council Committees. The Notice (i) specifies the updated list of terrorists and terrorist associates designated by the Security Council 1988 Committee on 10 Apr and the Security Council 1267/1989/2253 Committee on 9 May; and (ii) revokes the previous 20 Apr Notice. There are also updates in respect of the list of designations associated with ISIL (Da’esh) or Al-Qaida: (a) amendments to 2 individuals and 2 entities on the list. For details, please refer to the press release issued by the Security Council Committees.
