  Signing of RMA with CPA Canada  
The Institute's reciprocal membership agreement (RMA) with CPA Canada (formerly Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants) has been renewed with effect from 1 Jun, enabling eligible members of each body to apply for membership of the other body without further examination or test. Please click here for the requirements and procedures for the Institute members to apply for CPA Canada membership. CPA Canada members interested in joining the Institute may refer to our website for details.
     
Becoming an insolvency specialist
The Specialist Designation in Insolvency is open to members with considerable experience and competencies in insolvency practice, and who have gained the SQ (Insolvency). Holders of the Specialist Designation in Insolvency are entitled to use "SD (Insolvency)" after their names. The current round of applications will close on 6 Aug.

Companies Registry reminder regarding TCSP licenses

With the commencement of the amendments to the Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorist Financing Ordinance, Cap. 615, on 1 Mar, trust or company service providers (TCSPs) are required to obtain a licence from the Companies Registry (CR). It is an offence to provide trust or company service without a TCSP licence. The transitional period for existing TCSPs to apply for a licence from the Registry ends on 28 Jun. Please visit the CR's TCSP website or call the CR hotline on 3142 2822 for more details.


Down-to-earth stock investment strategies
At the seminar on 6 Jul, the speaker will discuss the practical aspects of investment strategies to give non investment professionals a chance to realize their financial goals over time through prudent stock investing.

Enrol in the soft skills series between July and September to learn skills in performance coaching, motivating staff and project management.

Enrol in the "AICPA & CIMA SEC Conference 2018: Accounting and Reporting Update for Foreign Private Issuers" in Hong Kong on 13 & 14 Sep. United Nations sanctions notices

Gazettal of Terrorists and Terrorist Associates under United Nations (Anti-terrorism Measures) Ordinance (Cap. 575) includes updating of specification of terrorists and terrorist associates designated by the United Nations Security Council (SC) Committees. The Notice (i) specifies the updated list of terrorists and terrorist associates designated by the SC 1988 Committee on 10 Apr and the SC 1267/1989/2253 Committee on 18 Jun; and (ii) revokes the previous 6 Jun Notice. There is also an amendment to additions of two entries on the list of designations associated with ISIL (Da’esh) or Al-Qaida.
