CPD tips: membership renewal requirements

Members who joined the Institute before 1 Dec. 2011 are required to complete 120 CPD hours in the three years ending 30 Nov. 2014, of which 60 hours must be verifiable. Time is running short before the year-end membership renewal. Click to learn more about CPD requirements now.

 

Wi-Fi service upgrade for members

The Institute has upgraded its Wi-Fi service with the latest technology to provide faster speed and support access for more members. Please use "HKICPA_Public" for 27/F training center and "HKICPA_Wifi" for 37/F board room and conference room. The old Wi-Fi service network "2287" will not be available from 20 Oct.


Internal control workshops
Enrol in the internal control workshops in November, which will cover data analytics in internal audit and fundamental IT audit for financial statements audit.

New Companies Ordinance: non-financial reporting

The seminar on 27 Oct. will focus on the implications for directors' duties, compliance system and share capital transactions under the new Companies Ordinance. +


International tax planning

Come join the Taxation Faculty seminar on 5 Nov. to learn more about recent developments in international tax planning.


Financial forecast

The speaker for the 6 Nov. seminar will share his experience in managing multinational companies’ financial forecasts and financial covenant compliance. +

The Young Members Group is organizing a visit to Nanjing and Shanghai on 25-28 Oct. to enhance understanding of China's political and economic developments including the "12th Five-Year Plan".

Institute comments on IASB exposure draft
The Institute's Financial Reporting Standards Committee has commented on IASB exposure draft of Investment Entities: Applying the Consolidation Exception (Proposed amendments to IFRS 10 and IAS 28).

Members' handbook update
Members' handbook update no. 158 contains conforming amendments to HKSA 700, HKSA 810 and revised PN 900.

Equity method in separate financial statements
BDO and Zhonghui Anda have published updates on HKAS 27 amendments on equity method in separate financial statements.

New financial instruments standard
BDO has published a financial reporting update on new financial instruments standard.
 
Mini bridge tournament winners
Congratulations to Tong Yat-chong and Arthur Hon who clinched the championship in the third mini bridge tournament on 27 Sept. Nelson Li and Fung Siu-fan placed second, while Dora Lo and Sin Yim-hung placed third. Click to see photos.

Singing contest
Sign up for the annual CPA singing contest on 30 Nov. at Tonno Club. Solo and group entries are welcome. We will select among the winners to represent the Institute in the joint professional singing contest.

Dance events
The Line dance, Tango, Cha Cha Cha, Jazz Funk and Jazz classes in October and November are now open for enrolment. Pick one or more to keep exercising.
Regular dinner gathering is organized every month for dance lovers. The coming one will be held on 17 Oct. at "百樂會", Tsim Sha Tsui. Join now to meet new friends and enjoy the fun of dancing. +
