  Budget proposals: support the community and boost competitiveness  

The Institute's budget proposals call for government to do more to help families and the community, and to set tax policies that will safeguard the city’s long-term position as a leading financial and commercial centre. The press briefing on 8 Jan. was hosted by Taxation Faculty Executive Committee Chair, Florence Chan, and Budget Proposals Sub-committee Convenor, Curtis Ng. Budget forum
Following the Financial Secretary's budget speech on 25 Feb., the Institute will organize a budget commentary forum. Watch for more details coming soon.


President talks to media about audit regulatory reform

At the interview with Apple Daily, Institute President Dennis Ho talked about audit regulatory reform and how the Institute is working with the government and the Financial Reporting Council. He also commented on China's policy about market access for Hong Kong accountants.

FSIG cocktail on social values

Workshops on new IFRS

The workshop series on 31 Jan. and 9 Feb. will focus on the application and transitional provisions of IFRS 9 Financial Instruments and IFRS 15 Revenue from Contracts with Customers respectively. +


PAIB forums on ethics

Join the PAIB forums on 5 Feb. (English session) or 13 Feb. (Chinese session) to learn more about the ethical responsibilities of PAIBs arising from the IESBA's exposure draft on proposed changes to Part C of the code of ethics.

RSCP golf tournament
If you have a handicap of 24 or below, please nominate yourself to represent the Institute at the annual RSCP golf tournament on 4 March. Other participating professionals include architects, doctors, dentists, solicitors and surveyors. +

Photography practice sessions
Two monthly practice sessions will take place in February and March for members who are interested in macro photography. +

Dance events
The January dance dinner will be held on 23 Jan. at Paramount Restaurant (百樂門) in Tsim Sha Tsui.

Limited places are still available for the Jazz Funk and Jazz classes in January.

Members' handbook update no. 162 contains revised Practice Notes 820, 830 and 860.1, while update no. 163 contains handbook improvements to code of ethics.
