  News highlights

Standard Chartered Marathon 2015

A total of 384 CPA runners participated in the Standard Chartered Marathon this year, including Institute President Dennis Ho, Immediate Past President Clement Chan, Council member Patrick Law, Past President Keith Pogson and Chief Executive Raphael Ding, who represented the Institute in the 10km race of the Business Challenge Chairman Cup. Twelve elite runners also represented us in the Business Challenge Marathon Cup for 10km race, half marathon and full marathon. Watch for marathon photos in this week's e-circular.

With the support from members, the Institute won the Most Supportive Group Award for the sixth consecutive year and ranked 9th out of 10 awardees. Click to see award presentation photos at the marathon carnival.

All CPA runners are invited to the post-marathon drinks where trophies will be presented to outstanding runners. Submit your official result now and stay tuned for event details.

If you want to swap your choices of interest groups, please make the changes at My CPA before 31 Jan.


Dance events

The February dance dinner will be held on 27 Feb. at Hsin Kuang Banquet Hall (新光宴會廳) in Wong Tai Sin.

In February, Jive (elementary I) and Waltz (elementary II) will be taught on Thursdays, while Jazz and Jazz Funk will begin in mid-February and March respectively. Pick the ones you are interested in and keep dancing to stay fit.

Golf events

Come enjoy the golf day at Phoenix Hill Golf Club on 28 Feb. with other fellow golfers.

Come join "play with a golf professional" on 14 March to hone your skills.

Ukulele class

Sign up for the beginner ukulele class in March and learn the Hawaiian instrument from a professional.


Trail running training programme

Join the 2-month trail running classes between March and May if you wish to challenge mountain running.

New Year trial run

Around 30 CPA runners practised 8km run on 17 Jan. at Bowen Road and enjoyed a dim sum lunch after the run. Click to see photos.


Sailing Interest Group hiking

The Sailing Interest Group's Sharp Peak hike was held on 17 Jan. with 20 participants walking along the trail from Pak Tam Au, heading to Sharp Peak, then back to Chek Keng, and ending with a seafood lunch at Kau Lai Wan. Click to see photos.


DIG x SgIG New Year party

More than 70 members and guests, including Institute President, Vice Presidents, Immediate Past President and Sports and Recreation Club Convenor, joined the New Year party co-organized by Dance and Singing Interest Groups on 11 Jan. With hours of singing, dancing and over 25 lucky draw prizes, everyone had a fabulous afternoon celebrating the New Year. Click to see photos.

Merry Monday

At the Merry Monday on 2 Feb., Louis Wong will introduce fine wines from the top regions of Spain, with focus on two native grapes – tempranillo and garnacha. Tasting notes from leading wine critics will be provided.


Tennis training course

The elementary tennis training course, which comprises four 2-hour sessions, will commence on Tuesday evenings starting from March, subject to venue availability. Experienced coach will provide a structural training for beginners.


Calligraphy class

The elementary calligraphy class on Kai Shu (楷書), which comprises 12 lessons on Thursday evenings, will commence on 5 March. Join now to learn this Chinese traditional art from the famous calligrapher Lau Choi-cheong (劉才昌).
