Budget commentary forum

The 2017-18 government budget will be announced on 22 Feb. The Institute will hold a budget commentary forum in that evening with Peter Churchouse, Economic Policy Committee Chairman of HKGCC, Simon Lee, Assistant Dean (Undergraduate Studies) of CUHK Business School, Kenneth Leung, Legislative Councillor (Accountancy Functional Constituency), and Curtis Ng, Institute's Budget Proposals Subcommittee Convenor. They will talk about impact of the budget on community and economy.

Clean election

The Chief Executive Election to be held on 26 March is regulated by the Elections (Corrupt and Illegal Conduct) Ordinance (Cap. 554) enforced by the ICAC. The candidates, their election helpers, electors and candidates' supporters (including individuals or organizations) should understand the requirements of relevant legislation and abide by the laws and regulations. Companies Ordinance – three years on

Come join the seminar co-organized with Law Society and Chartered Secretaries on 27 Feb. Speakers from accounting, chartered secretarial and legal professions will share their practical experience after the enactment of the Companies Ordinance. +

Consultation paper on measures to counter BEPS

The seminar under BEPS series on 8 March will look at the most significant changes proposed under the measures to counter BEPS, the steps companies should take to prepare for the changes, and how they should respond to the forthcoming regulatory development.

China and U.S. tax

CPA Canada Hong Kong Chapter's forum on 9 March will talk about how to support strategic and sustainable business practices in the face of new challenges brought by global climate change. Institute members get special rates. +

RSCP golf tournament 2017

Put forward your name if you are interested to represent the Institute at the RSCP golf tournament on 29 March at Hong Kong Golf Club. An internal selection will be held based on members' handicap and past competition records. +


Reminders
	Challenge yourself to compete in the 3-on-3 basketball competition on 4 March. Male and female teams are welcome to this fast-paced urban ball game.


	Don't miss the classes of Cha Cha Cha, Rumba and Jazz starting in mid-February, and the February dance dinner on 24 Feb. at "百樂會" in Tsim Sha Tsui.

IESBA exposure drafts

The Institute is seeking comments on proposed revisions to the Code of Ethics which seek to improve its structure, revise the safeguards, and clarify PAIB provisions. Comments are due by 24 April and 22 March respectively.

Revised Ethics Circular

The Institute has issued a Revised Ethics Circular 1 Guidance for Small and Medium Practitioners on the Code of Ethics for Professional Accountants, which supersedes the previous version issued in May 2015.

Outcomes from AOSSG meeting

The Asian-Oceanian Standard-Setters Group meeting held last November was attended by representatives from the IASB and the Institute. This communiqué summarizes the region's views on the topics discussed.

Standard Chartered Marathon

The Standard Chartered Marathon is just around the corner. Come visit the HKICPA marquee, located at the Causeway Bay Sports Ground, next to the Hong Kong Central Library (see map). The marquee will begin at the earliest possible time from 6:30 a.m. to provide services to our members including storage for personal belongings, refreshments, physiotherapy and group photos taking.

Golf day

Sign up for the golf day at Kau Sai Chau Public Golf Course on 13 March where South and East Courses are available for players of different levels.
