  New initiatives to support NGOs  
The Institute's Vice President, Eric Tong, and "CPAs for NGOs" core team members attended the HKCSS NGO Directors' Luncheon on 10 May where they introduced two new activities to help NGOs enhance their knowledge and practice of financial management and governance. The event also provided NGO board members opportunities to discuss with our representatives the challenges of implementing good governance practices. Click here for details.

Open day of the Commissioner's Office of China's Foreign Ministry in the HKSAR

To celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Hong Kong SAR, the Commissioner's Office will hold its open day on 28 May featuring cultural objects and paintings, picture exhibitions of diplomatic history of new China and diplomatic ties involving Hong Kong, and dance performances by ethnic minority groups. Guests will receive exquisite books and souvenirs as well.

Institute's comment on IESBA exposure drafts

The Institute commented on the IESBA exposure drafts Proposed Revisions Pertaining to Safeguards in the Code – Phase 2 and Related Conforming Amendments and Proposed Revisions to Clarify the Applicability of Provisions in Part C of the Extant Code to Professional Accountants in Public Practice.


Invitation to comment
The Institute is seeking comments on the IESBA's exposure draft relating to professional skepticism and professional judgment. Comments should be submitted by 23 June.

Members' handbook update
Update no. 200 relates to amendments to the Hong Kong Financial Reporting Standard for Private Entities.

IESBA strategy survey questionnaire
IESBA is seeking input from stakeholders to help shape its future strategic direction in this survey questionnaire. Responses will be considered in its development of a formal consultation paper. Please send your opinions to commentletters@hkicpa.org.hk by 15 June.
