Annual taxation update

 

The annual taxation conference on 22 July will cover recent changes in tax legislation and the IRD's practice, Board of Review decisions and court cases, Common Reporting Standard on the automatic exchange of information, and OECD's action plans on base erosion and profit shifting.


Financial crimes and money laundering

Enrol in the compliance series seminar on 12 July to learn more about global financial crimes and common fraud schemes, the stages and methods of money laundering in different industries, as well as the detection and prevention of financial crimes or fraud.

 

Good corporate governance seminar

Join the seminar on 28 June to take your corporate governance practices to the next level. +


Taxation Faculty 5th anniversary networking and cocktail
Attend the Taxation Faculty cocktail on 30 June to meet the Commissioner of Inland Revenue, and mingle with other guests.

Soft skills series
Sign up for the soft skills series in July to learn the skills for managing and motivating young employees and building a highly engaged team.

Insolvency- related circulars

Members who are involved in insolvency work may wish to take note of the following government circulars:

The Private Columbaria Bill from the Food and Health Bureau +
The Consumer Council report relating to consumer protection on prepayment and retailer insolvency from the Official Receiver's Office +

Reminders
The Specialist Designation in Insolvency is open to members who have considerable experience and competence in insolvency practice, and have gained the SQ (Insolvency). Register by 7 Aug.
The seminar on 4 July will teach you how to recover assets following an email scam, with additional tips on how individuals and companies can protect themselves against potential liabilities. +
Calling SMPs – Join the compliance forum on 26 June to minimize the chance of having complaints filed against you.

Directors of the Year Awards 2017
Nominate a deserving individual for their contributions to a company, or for demonstrating high standards of corporate governance, by 31 July. +
 
Free perfumery workshops

Join the free workshops in July organized by Parfumerie Trésor, an artistic perfume boutique.


Swimming classes

Register for the swimming classes between July and Sept. to improve your swimming techniques.


Sailing courses

Training courses, including levels one and two dinghy sailing, are available in Aug. and Sept. for you to explore this exciting sport.


Reminders

The monthly dance dinner will be held on 23 June and the Jazz class will begin on 24 June.

Limited places are still available for the elementary and intermediate tennis courses commencing in July.

Marathon results

Past presidents Keith Pogson and Ivy Cheung came in second place in the Chairman Cup at the Standard Chartered Marathon 2017. Winners of the Chamber of Commerce Cup were also awarded at the presentation ceremony on 5 June. Click to see results and photos.


2nd mini bridge tournament

Congratulations to Fok Kai Kwong and Lee Kam Kau who won the championship match at the 2nd mini bridge tournament on 10 June. Belinda Chan and Lawrence Leung placed second, while Francis Hui and Samuel Mui placed third.


Snooker training courses

Brush up on your snooker skills at the 4-session snooker training courses starting on 2 July. Beginner and intermediate sessions are available.


Fitness and stretching class

Enrol in the weekly fitness and stretching training from July to Sept. to maintain a healthy lifestyle.
