4th Membership Survey Report

 

The Institute's 4th annual Membership Survey was released at a press conference this afternoon, highlighting the opportunities and challenges for the profession. Thanks to all of those who contributed their feedback which will help the Institute formulate strategies to better serve our members. Click to see the full report and press releases.


A Plus – Accountants taking on climate change

The June issue of A Plus looks at how environmental concerns are affecting companies and what accountants are doing to address them. It also interviews the Accountancy Europe president, CPAs on Belt and Road opportunities, Genting Hong Kong CFO, and passionate CPA course speakers.

 

Time for tax review?

Enrol in the seminar on 9 Aug. to get prepared for tax season ahead of the implementation of Common Reporting Standards in 2018.


INED practices
The executive programme, starting on 12 Aug., will help you understand the roles and responsibilities of independent non-executive directors, including considerations in accepting appointment, legal and regulatory issues, corporate governance skills and strategies to perform INED roles effectively.

Specialist training on international tax
The international tax course, starting on 12 Aug., is a compulsory component of the Institute's Professional Diplomas in China Tax and Hong Kong Tax, and will equip you with international tax concepts to provide competent tax advice on cross-border transactions. You may also take the course on a standalone basis to complement your international tax knowledge.

Reminders
The seminar on 17 July will cover the role and value of financial public relations, the daily professional practice of investor relations and media relations as well as the importance of financial communications in IPO projects.
Join the soft skills workshop on 14 July to learn skills in managing and motivating young employees.
Enrol by 3 July to take part in the risk management and corporate governance section of the Financial Controllership Programme.

Corporate Governance Excellence Awards
Submit your recommendation for companies or organizations which foster the highest standards in corporate governance, business ethics and board leadership by 18 Aug. for the Corporate Governance Excellence Awards.

Insurance Authority
The Insurance Authority is an independent regulator responsible for regulating and supervising the insurance industry since 26 June 2017. Watch the corporate video (Eng / Chi) to learn more about its statutory functions and major initiatives.
 
Reminders

Don’t miss the chance to learn more about sailing this summer. Levels one and two dinghy sailing training courses are available in August and Sept. respectively.

Sign up for the elementary Jive and Samba classes which will commence on 13 July.
A photography practice session has been organized in July and August for members who would like to capture the beautiful scenery at Ma Tso Lung and Ha Pak Nai. Limited spaces are still available.
 
June IFRIC update

The IFRS Interpretations Committee's June meeting summary is now available.

 
RSCP dragon boat race

The Institute's dragon boat team placed third runner-up in the cup division in the RSCP dragon boat race on 18 June. Click to see photos.

Congratulations to the winners of the CPA badminton championship: TW Yap (men's singles), Joyce Kwong (women's singles), TW Yap and Wyatt Yeung (men's doubles), Fiona Ching and Joyce Kwong (women's doubles) and Joyce Kwong and Wyatt Yeung (mixed doubles). Click to see results and photos.


Singing technique class
Sign up for the 12-session singing technique class starting on 29 July. There will be a mini concert at the end for members to gain stage experience.

Dance events

Jazz class for beginners will continue on 29 July and the monthly dance dinner will be held on 21 July at 百樂會 in Tsim Sha Tsui.
