Welcome to the family of Hong Kong CPA. This is an exciting day for the accountants in Hong Kong as we officially embark on the re-branding voyage. With effect from today, the Hong Kong Society of Accountants (HKSA) has adopted the new name of Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants (HKICPA) together with a new logo and new visual identity, which is in keeping with the prevailing international practice and more indicative of the Institute's progressive outlook. It also reflects the Institute's objective of positioning itself as a centre of excellence for professional standards in the region. All these and other changes have been communicated to you earlier through our various letters, e-circular, publications and the HKSA websites. Here I would like to highlight a few for your interest and reference:

Change of membership designation - Today, all HKICPA members would adopt the widely recognized and respected designation Certified Public Accountant and designatory letters CPA after your names. |

Website face-lift - go to www.hkicpa.org.hk and find out more. New information regarding co-branding, ICAEW cooperation, CICPA/HKICPA Mutual Examination Paper Exemptions as well as our new initiatives can be found there. |

Check "What's New" on our website and find out more about today's events. There will be a press conference held this afternoon at Room 406-7, the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre to announce our rebranding as well as membership and cooperation agreement signing ceremony with ICAEW. |

There will also be a cocktail reception today at 6:00 pm at the Convention Hall of the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre with Mr Stephen Ip, Acting Financial Secretary and Madam Feng Shuping, Assistant Minister, Ministry of Finance, the PRC as our guests of honour. |

A TV and print advertising campaign will be launched today with the following details. |

| i) |
HKICPA sponsorship of "The CEO Connection" Programme on TVB Pearl daily at 8:30 pm during the period from 8 September to end of December. The programme will be rerun on the same day at 11:35 pm. |

| ii) |
3 versions of HKICPA commercials will be run twice or thrice daily between 9:30 pm and 12:30 am during the period from 8 September to end of December 2004 on TVB Pearl. |

|
| iii) |
Print advertisements will appear once to twice weekly from 8 September to end of November in 4 local Chinese newspapers including Apple Daily, Ming Pao, Hong Kong Economic Journal and Hong Kong Economic Times and one English newspaper, the South China Morning Post. |

| iv) |
4 pages of commemorative supplements appear today in Hong Kong Economic Times, Ta Kung Pao and the South China Morning Post. |

| v) |
Advertisements will also appear in business/professional magazines such as Tradelink Talk, The Bulletin, Banking Today and HK Lawyers from September to December. |

| vi) |
There will be a re-run of the RTHK documentary programme on Hong Kong accountancy profession
