Co-organised with the Hong Kong Trade Development Council, this 3-day study mission to Shanghai provides an excellent opportunity for members who are doing business in/with the Mainland to understand the regulations/operations of the government machinery and business environment in Shanghai . Exposure Draft (ED) of Insolvency Guidance Notes – Comments Sought

For the first time, the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants has issued an exposure draft of guidance notes (GNs) on insolvency practice in Hong Kong. The aim of the GNs is to reflect best practice and to ensure that high standards of professionalism and competence are maintained by members undertaking all forms of insolvency work in Hong Kong Given the importance of this initiative, a wide consultation is being conducted. The consultation ends on 30 November 2004.

Exposure Draft of Proposed Banking Practice Note for Auditors

The HKICPA issued an ED of proposed PN 830 "Reporting responsibilities of auditors under the Banking Ordinance" for consultation till 6 November 2004. The ED covers the audit reporting responsibilities under sections 59(2), 63(3), 63(3A), 63A and 63B of the Banking Ordinance. It will replace Industry Auditing Guideline 3.401 "Authorized institutions in Hong Kong " upon its finalization.
