Launch of New Taxation Interest Group
T

he Institute is launching the new Taxation Interest Group (TIG) for members. The TIG will host a range of activities, including forums, seminars and networking events, for

tax practitioners and others with an interest in Hong Kong and cross-border taxation. The Commissioner of Inland Revenue, Mrs. Alice Lau, will be the guest of honour at the inaugural cocktail reception on 10 June 2005. The TIG is open to members of the Institute and staff of member practices working in the tax field. Click here to enrol as a founding member.


TechWatch Issue 32

T
he latest issue of TechWatch announces the upcoming professional development activities for May/June, the release of a
comprehensive paper by the Institute calling for professional liability reform in Hong Kong, and the publication of a host of new and revised professional pronouncements and invitations to comment on proposed professional pronouncements. It also features the Institute's submissions on a number of public consultation documents and legislative proposals.

Proposed Standards to Enhance Auditor Reporting

he Institute has issued Audit Report Exposure Drafts adopting the International Standards on Auditing for comment by 8 July. These
proposed Standards are issued to respond to public expectations for strengthening Auditing Standards and providing greater clarity on auditor reporting. Please click here for the EDs.

Join the SMP Interest Groups

ome join the SMPC Discussion Groups and Young Practitioners Interest Group (YPIG), which are excellent channels for small and medium practitioners to network

and exchange their interests and concern. The Discussion Groups are open to members holding practising certificate or working in member practices, while the YPIG is open to members holding a practising certificate for under 10 years. Please click the above links to enrol.


Seminar to Update Investment Rules in Mainland
T

he Institute's Mainland Business Interest Group and the Hong Kong Trade Development Council are co-organising a seminar titled "New Regulations on Foreign

Invested Commercial Enterprises under CEPA and Current Investment Facilitation Policy on Mainland Private Enterprises to Hong Kong" on 7 June. Officials from the Ministry of Commerce will speak at the seminar. Please click here for details.


Workshops on PRC Accounting and Others

he Workshops on PRC Accounting, Auditing, Taxation, Capital Market and Corporate Governance are designed for CPAs wishing to acquire a comprehensive

understanding of the PRC investment environment. Encompassing the above five major components, the course will be delivered in 13 three-hour workshops on Saturdays from 18 June to 30 July 2005. Please click here to enrol.

CPAs to Acquire IT Risk Management Skills

esigned for CPAs and controllers who wish to obtain a structured knowledge of risk management under the IT environment,
and to be able to scrutinise business model of an IT project, the Institute's Executive Programme on IT Risk Management will give you the success ingredient to manage the risk of IT related processes and deliverables during your day-to-day work. The Consumer Council has recently published Good Corporate Citizen's Guide to provide guidance for companies in adopting good business practices to address corporate rights and responsibilities. The Institute fully supports this initiative and encourages others to develop their own codes of practice by referring to the Guide. Please click here to download the document.
