Mutual Recognition with CICA Officially in Place

Y
esterday (27 July) in New York, the Institute officially signed a Mutual
Recognition Agreement with the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants. The new agreement gives our CPA QP members ¡V for the first time ¡V practising rights in Canada. CPA QP is now recognised on five continents ¡V Africa, Australia, Asia, Europe and North America.

Give Your Comments on IFAC Code of Ethics
T
he Institute has issued an Invitation to Comment on the proposed revision to the definition of network firm in the
IFAC Code of Ethics.
Please let us have your comments by 3 September.

Changes to AE/AS Requirements
W
ith effect from 1 July 2005, the requirements of Authorised Supervisors and Counsellors of Authorised Employers have been changed. Only persons

with three years' membership with the Institute, or an accountancy body with which the Institute has a reciprocal membership agreement or mutual examination recognition agreement, are eligible. As of today, these include:

Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants
CPA Australia
Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia
Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales
Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland
Institute of Chartered Accountants of New Zealand
Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland
Institute of Chartered Accountants of Zimbabwe
South African Institute of Chartered Accountants

his September the Institute's Accountant Ambassadors and members will conduct financial
management road shows to over a dozen secondary schools. The shows are part of the "Rich Kid, Poor Kid" project, which kicked-off in mid-July and has been receiving good response from teenagers, teachers, parents and the media. Click here for more information and to join us to teach smart financial management to teens.

How do you resolve International Commercial Disputes effectively? The Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre and the Hong Kong Corporate Counsel Association will be holding a conference on 15 September on arbitration and other forms of alternative dispute resolution. As a supporting organisation, the Institute is entitled to special rates for its members.
