Be a Proud CPA!
T
omorrow (8 September) is the first anniversary of your new CPA designation
and one year on, it has become widely recognised both in Hong Kong and abroad. To celebrate the occasion, the Institute will publish advertisements in SCMP, Ming Pao, Hong Kong Economic Journal, and Hong Kong Economic Times. You can also participate in this campaign by wearing your CPA pin.
Another highlight of the day will be the release of the Institute's major study, CPA Survey 2005 - The Pull from the North. A big "thank you" to the 20 percent of members who participated in the online survey.

New CPD Requirements
T
he Institute is introducing new CPD requirements to bring us in line with international standards. With effect from 1
December 2005, members will need to complete a minimum of 120 CPD hours of relevant professional development activities, in each rolling three-year period, of which 60 hours should be verifiable. A minimum of 20 hours should be completed each year. For more information, please see Members' Handbook Update No. 18, which encloses Statement 1.500 "Continuing Professional Development"
(revised August 2005) and the Quick Guide to New Requirements - Continuing Professional Development.

A Plus This Month - Tax Tune Up

he September issue of A Plus studies tax issues, including Hong Kong's negotiations with the
Mainland to expand the double taxation arrangement and the debate over tax reforms in Hong Kong.

What's New in "Rich Kid, Poor Kid"

he latest issue of Accountant Ambassadors e-Newsletter was issued last week, giving an update on the record-breaking
enrolment in the "Rich Kid, Poor Kid" programme and its wide media coverage.
More than 80 accountant ambassadors will start teaching teenagers financial management skills after attending the kick-off briefing this Saturday, 10 September.
