setting in the three countries as well as a forum to discuss practical obstacles involved in convergence with international standards.
Winnie Cheung, the Institute's chief executive & registrar, shared the Institute's convergence experience. Also attending the summit from the Institute were chairman of the Standard-setting Steering Board, P.M. Kam, deputy chairman of Financial Reporting Standards Committee, Raphael Ding, and director of Mainland and International Relations, Patrick Tam.
The IASB updated its activities at the meeting, including a progress report of international convergence and exchanged views with the standard setters in attendance. They agreed that international convergence should be their objective, and the IASB welcomed their initiatives.

You are the Success Ingredient
W
atch out for the Institute's new advertising campaign this week. The advertising will appear in the South
China Morning Post, Apple Daily, Ming Pao, Hong Kong Economic Journal and Hong Kong Economic Times. The campaign uses an eye-catching, red background to give a feel of richness and elegance, and compares an emperor's chop, a champagne cork and a winning medal as "success symbols" with the CPA pin "success ingredient." Running for three weeks, the campaign develops on the CPA Day advertising and positions members of the Institute as what they are - the essential ingredients for business success.

Growing Role of Women
W
omen are outnumbering men in entry to a career in accountancy in Hong Kong! The CPA Survey 2005
shows that for age 60 or over, only six percent of our members are female, but the proportion changes for younger members, with females comprising 59 percent in the under-30 age group. An informal survey, however, shows there's more room at the top for women. Click here to see the survey report and send us your views at hkicpa@hkicpa.org.hk.
