Winners of Best Corporate Governance Disclosure Acclaimed
T
he Institute announced the winners of its 2005 Best Corporate Governance Disclosure Awards this
Tuesday, welcoming improvements in local practices, but noting the judges' comments that there was still room for improvement, particularly for GEM companies and public sector and not-for-profit organisations. The FSTB secretary, Frederick Ma, officiated at the ceremony, which was widely covered in the media. Please click here for more.

Bring Your Families to PlayStreet this Sunday
T
he PlayStreet 2005 will land on Chater Road this Sunday (4 December) at 1 p.m. with a host of
game booths and entertainment. Official opening starts at 2:15 p.m. Bring your kids to this fun day, which also aims to raise the awareness of children's needs and family values. To reward children's good deeds during activities, we'll give them "happy stones" sponsored by our members. Click here to enter your pledge if you haven't yet done so.

Storybook Teaches Money Concepts
T
he Institute publishes its first storybook for children today, written by Hong Kong best selling author Nury Vittachi. Titled
May Moon and the Secrets of the CPAs, the book helps children learn money concepts through the adventures of a 12-year-old girl May Moon and the advice of CPAs. The book will be on sale at bookstores including the online Paddyfield.com.
It'll also be on charity sale at PlayStreet, where Nury will autograph books. Click here for the release.

Council Elections Start
C
ouncil elections have started and you should have received the election papers early this week. You can now vote on paper or online, which is newly introduced
for your convenience. With 15 candidates running for seven seats, we urge your active participation to elect a Council that can best serve the interests of our Institute and members in Hong Kong. The voting deadline is 5:30 p.m. 14 December. Click here to enter the elections site.

New Tender Conditions for Liquidation
T
he Official Receiver is conducting an orientation seminar on 12 December to explain important changes to the new tender exercise for firms which are
interested in taking up appointments as provisional liquidator in summary cases. Please contact Ms. Cheung of the Official Receiver's Office by fax at 2869 0423 or email at wspcheung@oro.gov.hk, before 8 December to register.

Institute's Qualification Programme in China
T
he Institute has introduced its CPA qualification programme in China, with application for enrolment beginning in December
2005. The first module will take place in February 2006 at the Beijing National Accounting Institute. Click here for more information (in simplified Chinese).

Deadline for Employers and Supervisors Registration
E
mployers who are supervising the Institute's students, but haven't yet registered as an authorised supervisor or authorised employer, are advised to do so by the
end of this year (31 December 2005). This way, the whole period of the student's practical experience under your supervision since 1 January 2005 will be recognised for admission to membership. If you register after the cut-off, their experience will only be counted from the date of your registration. Please refer to the relevant application forms (Form AEMP & Form ASUP) for more details.
