acific Century Insurance recently announced it had not applied HKAS 39 to its quarterly financial results, spurring
media interest. The Institute responded, with president Paul Chan quoted in SCMP, Apple Daily, Ming Pao, Oriental Daily, Sing Tao, The Sun, TVB (Jade), Cable TV and Commercial Radio. The Institute is also inviting media to a background session today, 7 February, which should help journalists understand the standards.

Quotations for Examining Bankruptcy

he Official Receiver (OR) is inviting quotations for taking up appointments to complete preliminary examinations in bankruptcy. The contract period is April

The IASC Foundation is organising a conference to study the implications of IFRS convergence on April 6-7 in Germany. Leaders from IASB, FASB and EU will share with standard-setters, regulators, analysts and preparers.
The China Venture Capital Forum scheduled for April 7-8 in Shenzhen is one of the largest and most influential gatherings of venture capitalists in China. The forum, sponsored by the China Venture Capital Research Institute, offers a 10 percent discount to members.
