Moving complete this summer

he Member and Student Services Counter at Lippo Centre is moving to Wu Chung (27th floor) in July, completing the Institute's move. The Lippo office will then be closed. The new place of 24,000-plus square feet, occupying the whole floor, will have cool facilities such as a comfortable lounge for gathering, a lecture theatre for CPD and forums, state-of-the-art meeting rooms, and a library for research and study. Watch for more announcements in coming weeks.

Institute booms in the news
he "China and Global Capital Markets" conference held in mid-May has drawn wide media coverage about the conference, the Global Accounting Alliance's formation, and the fund manager survey results. The signing of a statement on converging accounting standards between the Institute and the Ministry of Finance drew more than 30 pieces coverage, demonstrating the profession's influence on China and its contribution to Hong Kong's capital market. Free HKFRS guide
hanks to Deloitte, 150 copies of HKFRS financial statements 2005 - A practical guide for preparers is now available free for collection at the Institute's Lippo centre (4th floor) on a first-come-first-served basis. Please present your membership identity when collecting. If you collect on behalf of other members, please bring a copy of their membership card. Call 2287 7228 if you have any queries.
Enron winners
The conviction of Enron top executives was in the headlines last week. Andy So, Lisa Xu and Joe Cheng are the winners of the A Plus quiz about Enron in the May issue, who will get a free copy of the documentary DVD - Enron: The Smartest Guys in the Room. Another DVD goes to Genevieve Ostrov for correcting the number of people losing their jobs after Enron's bankruptcy. The answers for the quiz are: 1c, 2d, 3c, 4a, 5c, 6c, 7a, 8b, 9a, 10d.

Hard copy or CD ROM?
The Institute's summary financial report will be produced this year in either hard copy or soft copy (CD ROM) depending on your vote. Please click here to indicate your choice.

Annual Dinner 2006
The Hong Kong SAR Chief Executive Donald Tsang will be the guest of honour at Institute's annual dinner on 9 November, Thursday at HKCEC. Mark your diary for this exhilarating event where members come together for food, wine, fun and fellowship. Click here to view the photos of last year.

Women's agenda
With growing number of women entering the profession, the gender ratio of membership will soon reach equilibrium. The Women's Commission is organising a conference on 19 June to promote gender equality under the leadership of Sophia Kao, who is a Council member. Community Services Committee leaders Susanna Chiu and Ayesha Macpherson will speak on financial management for women.

Reminder
The enrolment for the annual CPA Bridge Tournament scheduled for 17 June for members and registered students will close on 9 June.
