  SFC new chairman
ddy Fong, a member of the Institute, has been named the new chairman of the Securities and Futures Commission effective from 20 October. The government's announcement praises his extensive business experience as a CPA in local and international financial markets.

  he Institute's Taxation Interest Group is holding an evening seminar on 2 November to discuss practical issues on GST implementation, including its impact on accounting systems and documentation, and the experience of Singapore. Click here to enrol by 27 October.

The Institute's Practice Review Oversight Board, established in March 2005 to give an additional level of evaluation over the practice review process, has issued its first annual report on its oversight work.
