  Nominations for EC subsector elections
ominations for the 2006 Election Committee (EC) subsector elections will open on 1 November and run until 8 November. Twenty members from the accountancy subsector will be returned this December to the 800-member EC to elect the HKSAR chief executive.

Eligible members who are interested in standing for the subsector election should obtain the nomination form from the District Offices, the Registration and Electoral Office (REO) or its website at www.reo.gov.hk. Click here for more information or call the REO hotline: 2891-1001.
 
  IRD extends filing deadlines
  he Inland Revenue Department has extended the due date for filing 2005/06 "M" Code profits tax returns under the Block Extension Scheme. Click here for more.

ORO invites bids for bankruptcy work
The Official Receiver's Office is inviting interested parties to submit quotations by noon on 24 November for taking up appointments to complete preliminary examinations in bankruptcy cases. The contract period will last for nine months starting in January 2007.

Call for liabilities proposals
The International Association for Accounting Education and Research and KPMG are calling for proposals on academic research that will inform the IASB's decisions for its liability and equity distinctions project.
