ark Fong, senior partner of Moores Rowland Mazars, was elected the Institute's new president at a special meeting on 15 December after the AGM.   Merry Christmas

  Tax views
he Institute calls for cuts in profits and salaries tax and other measures to improve Hong Kong's competitive edge and to support the community, in its submission on 21 December to the financial secretary, who will present the government's new budget at the end of February. Earlier on 14 December, the Institute announced the findings of its commissioned survey on Hong Kong's tax base, which showed the majority of accountants agree that the territory has fiscal problems and the tax base needs broadening, although there was no consensus on how to address these problems.   Standards forum

  Double taxation forum

ainland tax officials and the Hong Kong commissioner of Inland Revenue attended the Institute's forum on 18 December to explain implementation details about the double taxation arrangement signed between the two parties in this August. Click here for the press release.
