  FRC chief executive
  ormer ex-officio council member of the Institute, Shum Man-to, has been appointed by the government as the chief executive of the Financial Reporting Council, which will investigate alleged auditing and accounting irregularities of listed companies. Shum, retired in 2003 after four years as the government's director of accounting services, will begin his new job on 1 February.
 
  Response to judicial review
andy Tam has filed an application for leave for a judicial review against the Institute. Click here for the letter from the Institute's chief executive, and here the press statement in response to this action.
 
  PRC workshops

he new series of PRC workshops on accounting, auditing, taxation, capital market and corporate governance will run from 10 March to 28 April (except 7 April). Click here for more.
