  CO rewrite forum
he Institute and the government are organizing a joint forum on 21 May about the consultation paper on the rewrite of the accounting and auditing provisions of the Companies Ordinance. It will enable you to understand more about the proposed changes and share your views with the experts managing the project. Click here for details.
 
  Welcome new members
  ew members of the Institute were feted at a cocktail reception on 27 April. A total of 1,075 new members have joined the Institute since April last year. Click here to see the photos.
 
  Judicial review updates
he judicial review proceedings commenced against the Institute by The Hon. Mandy Tam have been fixed to be heard before The Hon. Madam Justice Chu on 24-25 July. On the advice of the Institute's solicitors, the Institute has sought to appoint a U.K. senior counsel to represent it at the hearing and obtained the consent of the Bar Association. The Institute's solicitors have advised the Institute that it must obtain the approval of the Court for the appointment. An application for this purpose will be made soon.

New QA director

We are pleased to announce the appointment of Chris Joy as the Institute's new director in charge of quality assurance and the newly revised practice review programme. Chris is a U.K. chartered accountant and has 30 years experience in the profession. His previous position was the ICAEW's regional controller of quality assurance. Click here for the press release.

IASC Foundation is planning to increase the size of the International Financial Reporting Interpretations Committee from 12 to 14 voting members. Let us have your views on the consultation document.
