Paul Chan re-elected to CAPA Board
  Past president Paul M.P. Chan was re-elected a member of the board of the Confederation of Asian and Pacific Accountants at its meeting on 4 Oct. His term of office is from 2008 to 2011. Paul has also been appointed as chairman of CAPA's newly formed governance review task force and leads the SME financial reporting standards deliberation in the region.

Joint forum with HKEx
The Institute will hold a joint forum with HKEx on 13 Nov. on financial reporting and its role in helping market communication. Mark your diary and watch for details in coming e-circulars.

Joint conference with ICAEW
Featuring business leaders and the Lord Mayor of London, the Institute's conference with ICAEW on 24 Oct. will cover ethics and other issues of the profession. Members get seven CPD hours for attending. Click here for details and register now.

U.S. investor Warren Buffett used a slow means of communication to disclose his disposal of PetoChina shares and the Securities and Futures Commission admits there is a gap in the Hong Kong disclosure system, The Standard.com reports. +
