Golf winners
Anthony Cheng and Harry Yu are the winners of the 2007 CPA golf tournament, clinching the Wong Tan Cup and Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu Trophies respectively. They beat 22 other participants at the tournament on 10 Oct., which was officiated by Fong Hup, chairman of the Institute's golf society. +

The U.S. Financial Accounting Standards Board has decided not to delay the new fair-value standard despite the request of business groups, according to CFO.com. +


State firms listing

State-owned enterprises are encouraged to list in Hong Kong, particularly those under direct control of the state council, according to China's chief official for state assets quoted in China Daily. +


Shareholders get a say

The Shenzhen Stock Exchange has issued rules requiring listed companies to seek shareholder approval for major accounting changes in a bid to prevent corporate executives from manipulating company profits, China Securities Journal reports. +


Carbon emissions

U.K. companies are failing to act on climate change and less than half of the FTSE 350 have introduced schemes to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, AccountancyAge reports from a recent research. +
