QP early bird reaches new height
 

The Institute recorded a 12% year-to-year increase for its QP registration under the "early bird" scheme last month. A total of 750 university graduates enrolled under the scheme are making use of the summer for QP study. The Institute now has more than 12,000 registered students. Click here to sign up.

China forum kicks off next Saturday

Match making with mainland businesses

Chinese banks to invest in the U.S.

The U.S. becomes the fifth country in which China banks can invest under the QDII scheme. The other four markets are Hong Kong, Singapore, Japan and the U.K., Asian Investor reports. +

The deadline for your views about the IASB discussion paper on financial instruments with character-istics of equity is 4 Aug. +
   
A recent global survey by IFAC shows that XBRL is a welcome tool for interpreting financial reporting information, although more efforts are needed to promote how it works. +

Remember you can fulfill CPD requirements by attending training courses outside the Institute. Judge what is relevant to your professional development and the programmes can be classroom training, e-learning or conferences.

HSBC in the U.K. faces the prospect of a Financial Services Authority investigation and a hefty fine after it admitted that it had lost key details of 370,000 customers, Times Online reports. +


Hedge funds under pinch

Hedge funds are facing a tougher time this year as pressure from poor returns and redemptions calls are forcing many of them to liquidate, International Herald Tribune reports. +
