Mainland companies strengthen internal controls

Let us have your comments on three exposure drafts on internal controls issued by mainland financial regulators. The EDs are about guidance on auditing, assessment and application to the internal control framework effective for mainland listed companies from 1 July 2009. Please express your views to the Institute through this email so that we can make a thorough submission to the mainland government.


ICAEW agreement extended

The Institute has strengthened its relationship with the ICAEW by extending its membership and cooperation agreement. From 20 May 2008, members graduating from QP can continue to apply for ICAEW membership without taking any exams. Other members who have completed QP final exam and any one QP module are eligible to join ICAEW. +


Directors of the year

Members are welcome to nominate outstanding directors for the Hong Kong Institute of Directors' annual awards. +

IAASB work plan
The three-year strategy and work programme of IAASB emphasizes the development of standards that contribute to the effective operation of the world's capital markets and addresses the needs of SMEs and SMPs. +

CPD measurement

A new paper from the International Accounting Education Standards Board aims to assist IFAC member bodies to develop CPD programmes for professional accountants. +


Credit crisis website

The IASB has set up a dedicated section of its website in response to the credit crisis and provides links to related announcements. +


Paulson and Bernanke back IFRS

U.S. Federal Reserve chairman and the treasury secretary have made their strongest commitment yet to switching to IFRS, Reuters reports. +


NZ annual report awards

New Zealand Institute of Chartered Accountants' 2008 annual report awards were fiercely contested among large and small commercial and government organizations. The awards have been held for 52 years. +
