  Hong Kong recognized for anti-money laundering  
 

Hong Kong's efforts against money laundering and counter terrorist financing have been recognized by the international Financial Action Task Force on Money Laundering. The report commends Hong Kong for its good legal structure but says the suspicious transactions reporting needs to be improved. +

 
       

HKFRS survey

New accounting standards about financial instruments disclosures, business combinations and share-based payment are most relevant to members, according to a survey conducted for the Institute by market research firm Cimigo. A total of 322 members participated. +


Olympic night

The Beijing Olympics will open on 8 Aug. and the young practitioners interest group is organizing a gathering to mark the occasion with fine Chinese wine. +

The trustees of the International Accounting Standards Committee Foundation has published a proposal on enhancements to its accountability and to the composition of the IASB. +

OECD updates tax model
The OECD has approved the 2008 update of its model tax convention, left largely unchanged, but proposed a number of useful clarifications, AccountancyAge.com reports. +
