The Institute adopts IASB amendments The Institute has adopted amendments to two international financial reporting standards permitting reclassification of financial instruments. The Institute’s chief executive was interviewed by 11 print and three broadcast media - Commercial Radio, TVB and HD TVB. Click here for the press release and here for the letter.

 

Forum brings together international, Hong Kong and China standard-setters
More than 220 participants came on 15 Oct. to hear Wayne Upton, director of IASB, Marvin Cheung, trustee of the International Accounting Standards Committee Foundation, P.M. Kam, member of the IASB Standards Advisory Council, Winnie Cheung, chief executive of the Institute and Li Hongxia, MoF China, discuss international standard setting and the ASBE development in China. The forum can be used as e-learning and the video will be available soon.

Accounting conference in Taipei
The annual cross-straits, Hong Kong and Macau accounting conference will be held on 31 Oct. to 2 Nov. in Taipei. Don't miss the chance to learn about corporate social responsibility and to network. No registration fee is required. +

Labour contract law seminar in Beijing
The Institute's Beijing office is organising a seminar on the Mainland's new Labour Contract Law (勞動合同法) on 15 November. Prof. Jin Yingjie of China University of Political Science and Law (中國政法大學金英杰教授), who helped draft the law will discuss labour contracts. +

2008 SMP symposium
Mark your diary for Friday, 28 Nov. at the Shatin clubhouse, Hong Kong Jockey Club. This year's symposium will cover a wide array of SMP-relevant topics. Register early and earn seven CPD hours. +

Annual Dinner 2008
"Successes along Memory Lane" –懷舊之夜" is the theme of this year's annual dinner, scheduled for Wednesday, 3 Dec. at the Convention Hall, Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre.
