2009 membership renewalYour 2009 membership renewal package is on its way to you by email and post in mid-November. To renew your membership, all you need to do is pay your annual subscription and submit your CPD declaration on or before 15 Dec. There will be no increase in subscription fees for 2009 and please refer to the coming package for details.

 

Institute to present disclosure awards
The standards of the entries for this year's Best Corporate Governance Disclosure Awards are very high, according to the judges. Come meet the winners, judges and reviewers at the presentation luncheon on 21 Nov. at JW Marriott. +

Beijing cocktail reception
The Institute's council will be hosting a cocktail reception in Beijing for members on 24 Nov. If you are stationed in Beijing or happen to be travelling there, we welcome you to the reception. +

IT conference
Professional accountants need to know the digital future and how state-of-the-art IT systems can boost your productivity and improve your work. Enrol in the conference on 22 Nov. +

Cross-straits, Hong Kong and Macau conference
A 24-member delegation, led by the president, attended the above event in Taipei on 31 Oct. - 2 Nov. Over 460 participants from the mainland, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macau discussed corporate social responsibility and information disclosure of listed companies.

  OECD drives corporate governance campaign
OECD has called for a new drive to raise corporate governance standards in a bid to rebuild investor confidence and help the world's economy get back on track. +

No quick fix of fair value urged
In the U.S., The National Association of State Boards of Accountancy strongly encouraged the SEC to withstand the temptation of a quick fix to fair value accounting, stating that the fair value issue requires careful analysis, comprehensive vetting by appropriate parties and full transparency. +

New rules for credit raters
U.S. securities regulators are expected to address new conflicts-of-interest and disclosure rules for credit rating agencies within a few weeks, Reuters.com reports. +
