New Supervisor Scheme

The Institute has introduced a new scheme for supervisors to help registered students who are not working under one of the Institute's authorised employers or supervisors to gain relevant experience for membership admission. These supervisors will be assigned to eligible students so they can acquire practical experience in a structured training environment similar to that acquired under an authorised employer or supervisor. Click here for an application.

Recent Council Rulings on Registration

The Institute has drawn up a list of criteria for evaluating whether a membership applicant is a fit and proper person to be a certified public accountant, which is one of the admission requirements under Section 24(1)(b) of the Professional Accountants Ordinance. Please click here for the criteria.

Character referees for prospective members are now required to refer to these criteria when giving their opinion on the applicant. The applicant is also required to provide relevant information in Section 7 of the membership application Form R-3.

Examination Regulations

Candidates should read the Examination Regulations carefully. These can be found in the Candidate Handbook and the Instructions to Candidates sent together with the EAD. The following are some of the examination regulations that candidates should observe strictly:

  • Reading Time (for Final professional examination candidates only)
During the reading time in the final professional examination, candidates are only allowed to read the questions and plan and organise their answers such as jotting down points on the question booklet, flagging the relevant information on the materials brought to the examination hall, etc. Candidates are NOT permitted to organise the answers on rough paper. If they wish to write down any points, it must be done on the question booklet. The writing of answers in the script booklet is not allowed until instructed to do so by the examination supervisor.

  • Use Appropriate Script Booklet
Candidates are required to use the appropriate script booklet to answer each section of the examination paper, i.e. case answers on the case script booklet, essay/short question answers on the essay/short questions script booklet. Failure to do so may render your examination scripts unmarked.

  • Do Not Tear the Script Booklet

  • Write the Question Numbers Clearly
