pls prepare photoMoores Rowland Mazars: Authorised Employer

One of the interesting facts to come out of talking with partners in Moores Rowland Mazars about their participation in QP is the similarity in philosophy between the firm's training ethos and that of the QP. "We have always required our people to be thinking accountants and not just technicians," explains partner and authorised employer member-in-charge Raphael Ding. "When we registered to participate in 2004 as an authorised employer, our existing training already covered a great deal of what QP required. QP simply encompasses the knowledge and experience training you need for becoming a CPA!" Click here for more details.

pls prepare photoConfidentiality of Workshop Additional Questions

Candidates taking the QP workshops are reminded to keep the additional questions distributed during your workshops CONFIDENTIAL and limit discussion on them to your workshop group. These additional questions are used for assessment purposes. Disclosure of the questions and/or topics covered by the questions to candidates attending other workshop groups will give them an unfair advantage.

You have an important part to play in ensuring the integrity of our QP assessment and compromising the assessments could adversely affect your friends' ability to learn because working through the unseen additional questions is a key part of our skills development.

The Institute's Examinations Board has made it a rule that it will be considered a serious breach of the examination rules to copy down workshop additional questions or smuggle them out of your workshop in any form without the Institute's prior consent. The Examinations Board may disqualify a candidate from the whole module (i.e. both workshop and module examination components) or impose serious penal actions if a student is found in breach of this rule.

QP Learning Support Centre

Are you well prepared for your forthcoming examinations? You are encouraged to read the QP learning support centre notice board regularly. This board is used to post important announcements and updates on examination-related information.

To strengthen your technical knowledge, many useful technical articles, together with the hyperlinks to the Big 4 firms' online technical resources, have been posted on the notice board. These resources, together with the webcast technical update seminars on the four QP modules and the final professional examinations, are available for free.

Readership Survey

Thank you for your contributions to the readership survey on the Prospective CPA. We received 679 responses. More than half of the survey respondents consider the contents of the "Prospective CPA" good and 83 percent of respondents spend five minutes or more reading it. In response to your feedback, we will provide more examination related topics, career related issues and technical articles for students' reference. Click here to find out more about the survey findings.

As a token of our appreciation, all respondents went into a lucky draw. Ms. Ho Wai Ying wins the lucky draw and will receive a Hong Kong Institute of CPAs leather folio worth $480.

Golden rules of writing well

Why is concise writing important? Because your readers (like you) are busy people. They do not want to have to wade through a torrent of verbiage to get to the main points. Gillian Christie gives you some tips on how to write concisely. Please click here to find more details.

The New Zealand Institute of Chartered Accountants

The New Zealand Institute of Chartered Accountants (NZICA) is the operating name for the Institute of Chartered Accountants of New Zealand. As the country's pre-eminent professional accounting body it represents over 28,000 members in New Zealand and overseas.

The Institute has branches throughout New Zealand, and in Sydney, Melbourne, and UK. Within this framework, volunteer committees and special interest groups work together to share ideas and create opportunities for members to continually develop their skills. Internationally, members of the NZICA are well respected. The Institute's Admissions Policy is regarded as a world leader. Professional competency as well as academic ability is assessed before members can offer their services to the public.

Through the reciprocal membership agreement signed between the NZICA and the Institute in 2002, Institute members who are qualified through our CPA QP and trained under an authorised employer / supervisor registered with the Hong Kong Institute of CPAs may apply for the prestigious NZICA membership (other conditions apply). You can find more details about the NZICA from its website at http://www.nzica.com.
