Authorized supervisor: Paul Tsang, ORIX Asia Limited ("ORIX")

Paul Tsang is the vice-president of ORIX, a restricted licence bank and a wholly owned subsidiary of ORIX Corporation. The holding company is a mega financial services conglomerate with dual listings in the Tokyo and New York stock exchanges. Paul believes that close communication with staff is essential to succeed in accounting. With his hands-on attitude, Paul is taking a unique approach as being an authorized supervisor ("AS"). He is always willing to dedicate more than the required time to assist and advise his QP trainees.

As an AS for over a year, Paul has decided to expand his involvement in the Institute because of his sense of obligation towards his QP trainees. "I love communication and I really want to be involved with the Institute. I also feel that it is crucial for students to have a good AS, as they can learn a lot from him or her. I believe mentoring is significant as we all have a duty to train and coach our next generation." Click here for details.

Every senior executive who has made it to the top would have his or her own story about the turning points and important decisions they made along the way. They may not realize, however, that qualities they regard as distinct and individual are, in fact, probably shared by most of their peers.

Research shows that successful business leaders invariably have four key skills: they can (1) establish strong relationships; (2) hire, build and lead teams; (3) produce results and (4) adapt to changing demands. Craig Chappelow and Jean Brittain Leslie share their thoughts on how to be a good manager. Click here for more details.
