Confidentiality of workshop unseen additional questions
Candidates taking the QP workshops are reminded to keep the unseen additional questions, distributed at workshops, CONFIDENTIAL and limit discussion to the workshop group only. These questions are used for assessment purpose. Disclosure of the questions and/or topics covered by the questions to candidates of other workshop groups will create an unfair advantage.

You have an important role to play in ensuring the integrity of our QP assessment. As QP registered student, you have an ethical obligation to help maintain a fair and reputable workshop assessment. You should report to the Institute any solicitations or disclosures breaching the confidentiality of workshop assessment questions.

The Institute's examinations board has made it a rule that it is a serious offence to copy down workshop additional questions or take them out of your workshop in any form without the Institute's proper authorization. The examinations board may disqualify a candidate from the whole module (i.e. both the workshop and module examination components) and subject the candidate to disciplinary action if he/she is found in breach of this rule.

  Special consideration for QP workshops
QP candidates may offer an explanation for non-attendance at a QP workshop so that their marks may be adjusted. Any such request for special consideration with supporting documents must reach the director of student education and training within two weeks from the date of absence.

The Institute's examinations board is the only body empowered to decide whether or not marks will be adjusted. The examinations board will consider each request based on its own merit, taking into account any special circumstance when finalizing the candidate's marks.

  Examination results
Examination results for the final examination of December 2007 session and modules B and D of September 2007 session will be announced on 29 February and 6 March 2008 respectively. QP candidates who have applied for a student login account may view their results online within two weeks from the official result release date. If you do not have a login account yet, click here for information on how to obtain one.

  Multiple choice question tutorial

The Institute is launching a multiple choice question self-learning tutorial in the QP learning support centre. The tutorial aims to provide more examination assistance for QP students in their study. The tutorial on module B - financial management is now available online. Click here to access the tutorial.

  Talking to QP candidates
QP candidates' comments are valuable for enhancing the QP so sign up as a representative for your workshop group when the new module session starts. You will be invited to attend a meeting with other workshop group representatives and the secretariat staff of the Institute's student education and training department. Let your voice be heard.

Almost everyone working with email is increasingly stressed. From the CEO to personal assistants and managers, so much time is wasted needlessly. Why? Lack of knowledge of their email program's capabilities makes them work inefficiently, stunting productivity.

Debbie Mayo-Smith, an international business speaker and author, gives you some tips on using emails more efficiently. Click here for the full article or visit the author's website at www.debbiespeaks.co.nz.

This article was first published in the Chartered Accountants Journal (June 2007) of the New Zealand Institute of Chartered Accountants (NZICA) and is reprinted with permission from Ms. Debbie Mayo-Smith and the NZICA.
