Mainland China university degree holders

Under the Institute's new policy, direct admission of Mainland accounting graduates to the Qualification Programme (QP) is based on a case-by-case assessment of the applicants using the following three criteria:
   
(i)
the applicant should be a recognised accounting degree holder from one of the "national key universities";
 
(ii)
the applicant should have met the English competency requirement for Mainland applicants who wish to take the QP;
 
(iii)
the applicant should have met the QP's admission competency requirements in their undergraduate degree, i.e. coverage of Financial Reporting, Management Accounting, Financial Management, Auditing, Taxation, Business Law, Company Law, Management Information Systems, Economics, Statistics, Marketing and Ethics.
 
For candidates who have obtained their tertiary qualifications from Mainland universities but do not meet the above-mentioned criteria, to be eligible for registration with the Institute, they must have a degree granted by a 'recognised mainland tertiary institution' AND have completed a HKICPA accredited Conversion Programme.
   
English competency requirement for Mainland applicants is:
 
(a)
To have achieved one of the following recommended English standards:
   
 
Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL): a score of 550 or above (paper-based test), or a score of 213 or above (computer-based test), or a score of 79 or above (internet-based test); or
 
A minimum overall band of 6.5 in the International Language Testing System (IELTS); or
 
The Chinese Mainland’s College English Test (CET): Band 6 or a total mark of 450 or above in the new CET-6; or
 
Grade C or above in either the Overseas General Certificate of Education, the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE), or the Cambridge Test of Proficiency in English Language (Cambridge Test) for English taken as the first language and Grade B or above for English taken as the second language; or
 
註冊會計師全國統一考試英語測試; or
 
Band 5 in Public English Test System (PETS); or
 
Other equivalent qualifications acceptable for this purpose; and
 
 
(b)
To pass an English Interview
     
Note:
All QP Students registered on or after 1 January 2008 and hold a non-Hong Kong degree will need to sit and pass the Aptitude Test on Hong Kong Law for Practising Certificate issuance purpose.
