The Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants announced the re-implementation of its precautionary measures, from Wednesday 25 March 2020 onwards until further notice, to close library facilities and to adjust the services hours of counter on the 27th floor to 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. from Monday to Friday, whilst counter services hours on Saturday remains unchanged (from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon).


CPD and sports and recreation events


Face-to-face CPD events will be replaced by webinars. Sports and recreation activities will be cancelled.  Participants will receive further information via email.

Module exemption at Associate Level

Module exemption at Associate Level


Applicants for module exemption need to fulfill the following conditions:

  1. The qualification should be acquired from an institution recognized by the Institute; and

  2. The academic qualification must be gained within the recent 5 years upon application. 

Module exemption may be granted to both accredited and non-accredited programmes at degree and Hong Kong sub-degree levels as well as accredited conversion programmes.

Students can make up the non-exempted modules at Associate Level by either:

  1. passing the relevant Associate Module(s) (the QP Examination route); or

  2. taking the relevant subject(s) corresponding to the non-exempted module(s) in one or more of the Institute's accredited programmes (the Program Study route)

Important points to note for applying module exemption

  1. Application for module exemption has to be submitted in one go.  No subsequent application based on the same qualification(s) would be accepted.  Additional exemption is only available for a different qualification submitted thereafter.

  2. For those module(s) that have been enrolled under the QP Examination route, exemption cannot be claimed even though the subject(s) relevant to the module(s) has been completed by Program Study route afterwards.

  3. The maximum exemption fee is capped at five modules if respective module exemptions are ascribed to an accredited programme.  Exemption fee for each module is required if respective module exemption is ascribed to a non-accredited programme.  The amount of exemption fee can be found here.
