    A notice from the Companies Registry on malpractices relating to money-lending transactions  
The Companies Registry issued a notice to draw members' attention on the following content on professional conduct:
be alert when advising on or preparing documentation for the creation of a mortgage when there is an existing prior mortgage on the property, ensure that there are no restrictions against further mortgages and advise clients to obtain consent before applying for subsequent mortgage(s);
be alert to the relevant alienation restrictions imposed on a subsidized flat and relevant provisions of the Housing Ordinance when advising for the creation of a mortgage on subsidized flat; and
protect the interests of intended borrowers by reminding clients not to pay any fees, charges, rewards or consideration, however named, before or after the granting of loans from a licensed money lender.

Preparing for PRC exam
The 2018 PRC CPA Uniform Examination is open for enrolment until 28 Apr. Study materials for the exam are available for order until 11 May.

Effective credit risk management for international trade
The seminar on 8 May will cover how to strengthen credit risk management over the entire sales process with the use of business information, and will also cover some real cases and the ways taken to minimize the risk through systematic credit policy.

FSIG seminar on artificial intelligence and loan portfolios management
The FSIG lunch seminar on 9 May will feature the Founder and CEO of FinEX Asia sharing her experience in using data analytics techniques and tools to select consumer loans and manage loan portfolios.

Mainland China tax conference
Come to the Mainland China tax conference on 19 May to learn how the latest Mainland tax developments are affecting Hong Kong and international businesses. It will also cover corporate income tax, transfer pricing and indirect tax.

New corporate finance courses
Seven new e-learning courses on corporate finance have been added to the e-Series. To help you delve deeper into the subjects, you may take some of these courses together with the face-to-face seminars at a discounted price.

Liaison meetings with Mainland China tax bureaux
The Institute's China Tax Subcommittee has recently held its annual liaison meetings with the Guangdong and the Shenzhen tax bureaux. The meetings notes in Chinese (simplified and traditional versions) are now available. The English version will be available once ready.

United Nations sanctions notices

Gazettal of Terrorists and Terrorist Associates under United Nations (Anti-terrorism Measures) Ordinance (Cap. 575) as designated by the Security Council 1988 Committee on
16 Feb 2017 and the Security Council 1267/1989/2253 Committee on 29 Mar 2018 respectively. The notice specifies the updated list of terrorists and terrorist associates and revokes the previous notice published in the Gazette on 16 Mar. Restructured Code of Ethics

The IESBA has issued the restructured International Code of Ethics for Professional Accountants. The Institute plans to adopt the restructured Code and will update the Members' Handbook in due course.
