  World's standard setters in Hong Kong
ational standard setters from around the world, including those from the United States, Canada, the U.K. and other European countries, will hold a meeting in Hong Kong on 24-25 March to discuss impairment, equity and liabilities, and pensions. The purpose of the meeting is to raise issues that may one day go to the IASB.

  Accountant Ambassadors in action

he Institute's Accountant Ambassadors are representing the Institute in charity events: On 25 March,
a team of five AAs will walk up Jardine House to raise funds for youth mental health. And on 15 April, a four-member team will compete in the MTR race walk and Institute President Mark Fong will join the "MTR Chairman's Invitational" competition to support public health education. HKFRSs vs IFRSs update

Lobby for change
President Mark Fong told to standard setters in Beijing recently that the Institute has, in conjunction with the mainland, lobbied the IASB to support China's state-owned enterprises by changing the IFRS standard about when SOEs must report related party transactions. As a consequence of the lobbying, the IASB aims to amend the related party standard by the end of 2007.
