Council election resultsClick here to see the names of the seven newly elected council members. The results will be officially announced at the AGM this Friday, 12 Dec., 5:30 p.m. at 27/F, Wu Chung House. The new president and vice presidents will be elected at a special meeting afterwards.

 
       

A Plus combination issue (Jan/Feb)
The January and February issues of A Plus will be combined to give members more substantial content during the holidays. The issue will be published before the Chinese New Year and the following issue will appear in March.

Annual report
  The 2008 full annual report has been published and you can download it from the web. The report shows how our equestrian and accounting traditions have played a role in Hong Kong's social and economic development.

Fair value accounting
Briefing notes on fair value accounting prepared for the Hong Kong government by Marvin Cheung, trustee of the IASC Foundation were printed in the December issue of A Plus. The notes explain the background of mark-to-market accounting and the economic crisis. +

2008 global leadership survey
IFAC's 2008 global leadership survey shows that accounting institutes are helping their members understand standards during the financial crisis. The survey’s release marks the beginning of the World Accountancy Week (7-13 Dec.) and gives the perspectives of the leaders of 110 accountancy organizations.

XBRL rules
U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission chairman Christopher Cox says it is finalizing rules this month on the interactive data format for public company financial reports, AccountancyAge.com reports. +
