Changes to practising certificate regimeThe Institute started a consultation with members on 6 Jan. about tightening the regulation of the auditing profession. A press briefing was held the following day to talk about how the proposals would protect the public interest by ensuring auditors have up-to-date technical knowledge and comply with quality control requirements. Insolvency courses relaunched
Insolvency preparatory I and preparatory II courses start again in March and June respectively. These courses emphasize practical issues and will add value to your career during the financial downturn. The Institute also plans to reintroduce the insolvency diploma starting in this September.

Board of review nominations
The Inland Revenue's board of review is inviting nominations for new members. Please forward your nominations by 16 Jan. to the Institute's Elena Chai. +

Subscription to the Chinese Certified Public Accountant for 2009, China Standards on Auditing, Review, Other Assurance, Related Services & Quality Control (English version) and the accounting yearbook of China 2008 are now open until 23 Jan. +

Financial sector governance
