CE media interview on corporate failures

The Institute Chief Executive Raphael Ding gave an interview to Metro Radio regarding recent wave of corporate failures concerning Hong Kong-listed Mainland enterprises. He discussed about the roles of market participants including management, sponsors, regulators and auditors, and how governance and internal control play a critical part in a company's setup.


Changes in financial reporting under the new Companies Ordinance

The seminar on 14 Nov. will cover the key financial reporting requirements under the new Companies Ordinance and how to apply those requirements in preparation of financial statements and directors’ report. +

 

Membership renewal

Your 2015 membership renewal package will be sent to you by email and post in early November. To renew your membership, you need to pay your annual subscription and submit your annual return which contains CPD declaration by 15 Dec. Please refer to the quick guide to annual renewal for details. There will be no increase in subscription fees for 2015. To encourage online payment, there will be a lucky draw.


Accounting for financial instruments
The TUE sessions on accounting for financial instruments in November and December will cover derivatives and compound financial instruments, and hedge accounting respectively.

Pilot scheme for e-discovery in courts

A pilot scheme for the discovery and provision of electronically-stored documents for commercial court cases took effect on 1 Sept. Learn more about the new procedures, judiciary's practice direction and the implications to practitioners and litigants at the Forensics Interest Group seminar on 18 Nov.

Attracting over 150 audiences, the CPA music night was held on 12 Oct. where members showcased their singing talent. Stanley Leung and Bill Ng were voted by the audiences as winners of "my favourite performance" and "best stage appeal" respectively.
