Membership survey helps strengthen Institute's support to members

The Institute has published its annual membership survey report, which received more than 3,500 responses, corresponding to about 10% of total membership. The survey canvassed members' views on work-life balance, professional development and top-of-mind business issues. The results will help us better understand your needs and provide targeted services to support you.

Current Affairs Series: Pearl River Delta and bridgehead economy

At the second seminar of the Current Affairs Series on 25 Sept., Secretary for Development Paul Chan will talk about enhancement of Hong Kong's infrastructural connectivity with the Pearl River Delta and the opportunities for developing a bridgehead economy, particularly at the Hong Kong Boundary Crossing Facilities Island and the neighbouring areas. Proposed development on Lantau will also be addressed.

Campaign materials from Council election candidates

In line with the Institute's ongoing practice to embrace corporate social responsibility, starting from this year, we are offering you an option to receive e-version, instead of hard copy, campaign materials from candidates running for Council election. Proposed questions for meetings with Guangdong tax authorities

If you wish to propose questions on the value-added tax pilot scheme, non-resident tax, transfer pricing, individual income tax, real estate tax and land appreciation tax for us to raise at the meetings with the Guangdong Provincial Office of the State Administration of Taxation and the Guangdong Provincial Local Taxation Bureau in December, please complete the suggestion form by 30 Sept. The translated notes of the second liaison meeting with the Guangdong Provincial Local Taxation Bureau in December 2014 are also available now.

Sustainability reporting and directors’ liability

The seminar on 22 Sept. will cover the trend of reporting on social and environmental issues, potential directors' liability from producing such report, and a look at the experience of three comparable jurisdictions. +

Dealing with requests from regulators and liquidators

The seminar on 29 Sept. will discuss how to handle requests from regulators and liquidators for effective risk management. +

Professional Diploma in Insolvency 2015-16

The Professional Diploma in Insolvency will start its new class on 3 Oct., covering liquidation, corporate rescue and restructuring, and personal insolvency. It is a reimbursable programme under the Continuing Education Fund. Enrolment deadline is 18 Sept.

Dance classes

Jazz and Cha Cha Cha classes beginning in mid-October are now open for enrolment. Places are still available for the Jazz Funk class starting in late September. Pick the one which you are most interested in.

JTR Group for revenue recognition

EY has published a summary of items on which members of the Joint Transition Resource Group reached general agreement. The group was created by IASB and FASB to help determine whether more application guidance is needed on their new revenue standards. +

Tennis training

The elementary and intermediate tennis courses will begin in mid-October, consisting of four 2-hour sessions with structural training and practice guided by experienced coaches.
