HKICPA appointed as an official ISSB Training Partner by the IFRS Foundation

The Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants (HKICPA) is pleased to announce that it has been appointed as an official International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB) Training Partner by the IFRS Foundation.

The ISSB Training Partner Programme is a global initiative established by the IFRS Foundation to recognize authorized organizations that deliver official ISSB Disclosure Training using IFRS Foundation-developed content. As an ISSB Training Partner alongside 25 institutions around the globe, the HKICPA will be authorized to deliver training designed to build knowledge and practical capabilities in applying the IFRS Sustainability Disclosure Standards.

The appointment of the IFRS Foundation reflects the HKICPA’s ongoing commitment to supporting the implementation of sustainability reporting requirements and strengthening professional capacity in Hong Kong. It also reinforces HKICPA’s role in advancing high-quality sustainability reporting and promoting alignment with internationally recognized standards.

HKICPA President Stephen Law said: “We are honoured to be appointed as an official ISSB Training Partner by the IFRS Foundation. As sustainability reporting requirements continue to evolve globally, it is critical to build market readiness and professional capability. This appointment enables the HKICPA to further support our members, sustainability reports preparers and other stakeholders through high-quality training based on IFRS Foundation-developed content, contributing to the effective implementation of sustainability disclosure standards in Hong Kong.”

With the appointment, HKICPA will leverage the resources available through the partnership to enhance its Sustainability Reporting Certificate Programme. The enhanced Programme, which is targeted for launch later this year, will incorporate official IFRS Foundation-developed training content alongside considerations of local implementation of sustainability reporting standards and practical insights.

Against the backdrop of mounting importance of sustainability-related disclosures to investors and capital markets, the HKICPA, as the sustainability reporting standard setter of Hong Kong, will continue its efforts in standards-setting, implementation support and capacity building to facilitate the adoption of internationally aligned reporting practices and support the continued development of Hong Kong’s sustainability reporting ecosystem as a leading international financial centre.
